Why There’s No Sizing Dropdown (And What Happens Instead)

Ready to order but not sure where sizing fits in? Here’s how it works.

Why There’s No Sizing Dropdown (And What Happens Instead)

At Tweedmaker, you don’t simply pick a size and hope for the best.

Every suit is made to order, and every order goes through a sizing and measurement review before production begins.

We don’t just want to send you a suit - we want to send you one that fits properly the first time.

Whether you choose standard sizing or custom measurements, everything starts with getting your fit right.

What happens after you order

Once your order is placed, we’ll send your measurement request email within an hour.

If you don’t see the email, check your spam or promotions folder first. If it’s still not there, just contact us and we’ll get it sorted for you straight away.

That email is the key to finding your perfect fit.

Why we ask for measurements for standard sizing

One of the biggest causes of confusion when buying a suit online is that standard sizes are not actually standard across brands.

Some brands run slim, others more generous, and most use varying levels of vanity sizing - so the label size rarely reflects the true fit.

That’s why we don’t rely on your usual clothing size alone.

Even for standard sizing, we ask for a few key body measurements so we can recommend the right size for your proportions.

How standard sizing works

For standard sizing, we ask for a smaller set of key measurements. These are reviewed carefully by our team before your suit is made.

We look at:

  • chest and belly balance
  • waist and hip proportions
  • height and trouser length

We review your measurements and email you with our recommended size.

You confirm your sizing or request any changes before we begin making your suit.

How custom tailoring works

We collect a full set of measurements and review them carefully before proceeding to production - checking proportions and key areas like shoulders, sleeves, and jacket length.

If anything looks off, we’ll contact you to double check.

Once confirmed, your measurements go to our tailor for a final review before production begins.

Why we take fit so seriously

A suit that fits properly changes everything.

It’s the difference between something that looks good - and something that looks great and feels right from the moment you put it on.

That’s why sizing at Tweedmaker isn’t a simple dropdown - it’s a guided process to get your fit right from the start.

We keep your measurements on file

We store your sizes and measurements for future orders.

When you order again, we’ll check in to confirm whether you’d like to use the same sizing or make any adjustments.

Simple to reorder - with the same attention to fit every time.

Where to start

Every suit includes our guided sizing service - built in from the start so you don’t need to figure out sizing on your own.

Not sure whether standard or custom is right for you? Start with standard in most cases - if custom is the better option, we’ll guide you there.
